Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 15, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 15, 2026  ·  Version 2.0

Farm-Ed, Inc. ("Farm-Ed," "we," "us") builds AI-powered grow chambers, a student data dashboard, and standards-aligned curriculum for K-12 classrooms. This policy explains what personal information we collect across farm-ed.com and our products, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. We hold student data to the highest bar — schools, not Farm-Ed, control it.

The short version

  • We don't sell or "share" personal information (as those terms are defined under US state privacy laws), and we never sell student data.
  • Student data is school-controlled. We act as a school official / service provider under FERPA and a processor under COPPA and state student-privacy laws — we use it only to deliver the service.
  • This marketing site collects the contact details you submit (name, school email, role, school/district) and uses analytics and advertising cookies you can turn off.
  • You have rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out — exercise them anytime at support@farm-ed.com.
  • We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.

1 · Scope & who we are

This policy applies to the Farm-Ed marketing website and our customer-facing products (the Grow Chamber, the student Data Dashboard, and curriculum tools). The data controller is Farm-Ed, Inc. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact support@farm-ed.com or call (941) 432-7633.

Where a school or district adopts Farm-Ed for its students, that institution is the controller of student records and Farm-Ed is the processor / service provider acting on its documented instructions under a data-processing agreement.

2 · Information we collect

From educators, administrators & site visitors who contact us

  • Contact & professional details you submit through our forms or demo funnel: first and last name, school email, school or district, role, and anything you add in a message.
  • Communications if you call, email, or message us on WhatsApp, and your booking details if you schedule a walkthrough.
  • Device & usage data collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate (city-level) location, via cookies and similar technologies (see §4).

From students using the Grow Chamber dashboard

  • A teacher-assigned username (no student-supplied email required), the experiments and lab-notebook entries students create, and the readings their chamber generates.
  • We do not request student home addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, precise geolocation, or biometric data, and we do not build advertising profiles of students.

We do not intentionally collect "sensitive personal information" (as defined by the CPRA and similar laws) for advertising, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you.

3 · How & why we use it, and our legal bases

PurposeLegal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR)
Respond to information requests, schedule and run demos, and follow up about Farm-EdConsent / legitimate interests / pre-contract steps
Provide, operate, secure, and support the Grow Chamber, dashboard, and curriculumContract performance (with the school)
Improve our products using aggregated, de-identified usageLegitimate interests
Measure and, where permitted, advertise our programs to schoolsConsent (cookies) / legitimate interests
Meet legal, accounting, and safety obligations and prevent fraudLegal obligation / legitimate interests

We do not use student personal information for our own marketing, for advertising, or to train commercial AI models. We send marketing emails only to educators/administrators who request them, and every message includes a one-click unsubscribe.

4 · Cookies, analytics & advertising

On farm-ed.com we use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site, forms, and demo funnel to work. These are always on.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager, and HubSpot analytics, to understand aggregate site usage.
  • Advertising & measurement — we and our partners may set cookies/pixels to measure campaigns and show Farm-Ed to relevant educators, including the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag.
  • Embedded content — pages with videos load YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode; the appointment scheduler loads from Google Calendar.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via our cookie banner, change your browser settings, and use the analytics/advertising partners' own opt-outs (e.g., Meta ad preferences, LinkedIn opt-out, Google Analytics opt-out). We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of "sale"/"sharing" for cookie-based targeting. These trackers are not used on student-facing surfaces of the dashboard.

5 · How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising in a way you cannot control. We disclose information only to:

  • Service providers / processors that run our operations under contract and may only use the data to serve us — including Formspree (form/lead submissions), Google (Calendar scheduling, Workspace, Analytics/Tag Manager, Fonts), and HubSpot (CRM/analytics), plus the advertising/measurement partners named in §4.
  • The school or district that controls a student's records.
  • Legal & safety recipients when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights and safety.
  • Successors in a merger, acquisition, or financing — with this policy continuing to govern, and with student data transferred only under its existing protections.

6 · Children's & student data (FERPA, COPPA & state laws)

  • FERPA. When we handle student education records, we act as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest, under the school's direct control, and use the records only to provide the service.
  • COPPA. For users under 13, accounts are created and authorized by the teacher/school of record — never by a child directly. We rely on school consent as permitted for school-based educational use, and we do not condition participation on disclosing more data than is reasonably necessary.
  • State student-privacy laws (e.g., SOPIPA and state student-data-privacy statutes). We do not sell student data, do not use it for targeted advertising, do not create non-educational profiles, and we delete it on the school's request.

Parents and guardians: requests about your child's data are fulfilled through your school, which controls the records. We will support the school in responding promptly.

7 · Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access / know the personal information we hold and how we use and disclose it;
  • Correct inaccurate information;
  • Delete your information;
  • Portability — receive a copy in a portable format;
  • Opt out of "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising, and limit use of sensitive information;
  • Withdraw consent and unsubscribe from marketing at any time;
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights, and to appeal a decision.

These rights are provided under laws including the California CCPA/CPRA, Virginia VCDPA, Colorado CPA, Connecticut CTDPA, Utah UCPA, Texas TDPSA, and other US state laws, and the EU/UK GDPR. To exercise any right, email support@farm-ed.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject. We will verify your identity, may accept an authorized agent, and will respond within the timeframe the law requires (generally 30–45 days). EU/UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority.

8 · Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, then delete or de-identify it:

  • Marketing & inquiry data — up to 24 months after your last interaction, unless you become an active customer or ask us to delete it sooner.
  • Student dashboard data — for the term of the school's agreement; on contract end, schools may export it, and we delete it within 90 days.
  • Logs & security data — typically up to 13 months.

9 · Security

We protect personal information with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and least-privilege permissions, vendor due diligence and data-processing agreements, and regular review. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify affected parties and regulators as required by law.

10 · International data transfers

Farm-Ed is based in the United States and processes data here. If you contact us from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US under appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required).

11 · Changes & contact

We will revise the "Last updated" date above when this policy changes and, for material changes, notify active customers by email. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
