Accessibility Statement
Farm-Ed is committed to digital accessibility for everyone — students, educators, and families, including people with disabilities. We design and maintain our website and classroom products to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.
At a glance
- Target standard: WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- Conformance status: Partially conformant — substantially meets WCAG 2.2 AA, with a few areas in active remediation (see below).
- Frameworks: ADA Title II & III, Section 508, and EN 301 549.
- Need help or hit a barrier? Email support@farm-ed.com — we respond within 2 business days.
Our commitment & standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the current international benchmark for web accessibility — and we align with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II and Title III, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (for federally funded use), and the European standard EN 301 549. Because many of our users are public schools subject to the 2024 DOJ ADA Title II web rule, we treat WCAG 2.2 AA as our working requirement, not an aspiration.
Conformance status
"Partially conformant" means most of the site and products conform to WCAG 2.2 AA, while some content does not yet fully conform. We are actively remediating the gaps listed under Known limitations. We assess conformance through a combination of automated testing, manual expert review, and testing with assistive technologies.
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML landmarks, logical heading structure, and a visible "skip to content" link.
- Full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators, and no keyboard traps.
- Text and meaningful UI that meet or exceed AA color-contrast ratios; layouts that reflow and stay usable at 200% zoom and on mobile.
- Descriptive alternate text for informative images and labels/instructions for every form field, with clear inline error messages.
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences, accurate page language and titles, and consistent navigation.
- Captions and transcripts for video content; ARIA used only where native HTML can't convey the role or state.
- Accessibility checks built into our design and release process so new pages are reviewed before they ship.
Compatibility
Farm-Ed is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox) and assistive technologies including screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS), screen magnification, speech-input, and OS-level high-contrast and text-size settings. The site is best experienced with browsers updated within the last two years.
Classroom-product accessibility
The Grow Chamber Data Dashboard is built for keyboard control and screen-reader use, presents data in both visual and text form so it isn't conveyed by color alone, and supports OS text-scaling. Curriculum materials are offered in screen-reader-friendly and large-print formats on request. If a student needs an accommodation we don't yet support, contact us and we will work with the school to provide an equivalent alternative.
Known limitations
We're transparent about what isn't perfect yet. We are currently:
- Expanding caption coverage on older video content.
- Extending the high-contrast theme across all areas of the dashboard.
- Improving some complex data-visualization descriptions for screen-reader users.
If you rely on one of these and need help in the meantime, contact us and we'll provide the information another way.
Feedback & how to report a barrier
We treat accessibility issues as priority bugs. If you encounter a barrier, or need content in an alternative format, please contact us:
- Email: support@farm-ed.com
- Phone: (941) 432-7633
Please include the page URL or product screen, a description of the problem, and your browser and assistive-technology setup if relevant. We aim to acknowledge reports within 2 business days and to provide accessible information or a workaround while we implement a permanent fix.
If we don't resolve it
If you contact us about an accessibility barrier and are not satisfied with our response, ask for your report to be escalated to our accessibility lead by replying to your support thread or emailing support@farm-ed.com with "Accessibility escalation" in the subject. We will provide a written response and a remediation timeline.
